Lens type shear panel damper (LSD)
Efficient absorption of energy inputs
LY100 and LY225 dead soft steel with low yield point is not as strong as mild steel but offers greater elasticity, allowing it to absorb substantial energy inputs with a minimum of deformation.
Resists repeated vibration
The center of the steel plate is machined to a lens shape to promote shear stress equilibrium and inhibit concentration of strain. This encourages more efficient plasticity in the steel plate and enables it to withstand repeated vibrations.
Lens section can be replaced separately
The lens section is secured with high-tension bolts. In the event of damage or failure in a major earthquake, it can be replaced simply by removing the bolts. This is more economical over the life cycle of the unit.
